OPTIO A10 FIRMWARE UPDATE
CHANGES:
-
Improved autofocus performance.
NOTES:
-
You will need to use an SD memory card to perform this update. Using the camera's internal storage will prevent the update from completing successfully.
-
Your Optio A10 must have version 1.00 of the firmware currently installed to update successfully to version 1.01. You can check what version of firmware you have by inserting a blank memory card into the camera, then turning the camera on while simultaneously holding down the MENU button. The current firmware version will display on the LCD.
INSTRUCTIONS
-
Please click the download link at the bottom of this page, and save the download file a1_e101w.exe to your Desktop.
-
Double click the a1_e101w.exe file to decompress it. Click the OK button.
-
You will now see the following expanded files:
Note that the FWDC141P.ELF file, circled above, is the firmware update. The readme.txt file contains instructions, similar to this page, which you may want to review.
-
With a blank SD memory card in your Optio A10, connect the camera to the computer according to the instructions in the PC Connection Manual. The camera will become a removable disk drive in the My Computer window. Copy the FWDC141P.ELF file to the camera's removable disk drive.
NOTE: you can use a memory card reader for this step, if you own one and are familiar with its use.
-
You will now have the FWDC141P.ELF firmware file on the removable disk, which is the camera's SD card. Note that the FWDC141P.ELF file should be on the top or root level of the removable disk drive as shown below. That is, it cannot be located inside of any sub-folders on the removable disk.
-
Now, disconnect your camera from the computer. You are ready to install the firmware update. For these next steps, we strongly recommend the use of an optional AC adapter or a fully charged camera battery.
-
Press your camera's MENU button, and while holding down the MENU button, turn the camera on. Once your camera turns on and displays text on the LCD screen, you can release the MENU button.
-
You will see the following text displayed on your LCD screen:
PROGRAM UPDATE
YES
NO
NEW VERSION IS
VER 1.01
Use your four-way controller to select YES, and then press your OK button.
-
The camera will update for approximately 40 seconds, and you will see the self-timer lamp blinking during this time. Be careful to not interrupt power to the camera while the new firmware is loading. When the procedure is complete, the camera will automatically turn itself off.
-
Now, turn your camera back on normally (i.e. without holding down the MENU button). Be sure to format your camera's memory card to erase the firmware file. We also recommend resetting your camera settings. You're finished, congratulations.
MACINTOSH USERS can follow this same process after clicking on the Macintosh download link below.
-
Download and save the Macintosh download file.
-
Double click it, to decompress it with your Stuffit expander program.
-
Connect the camera to the computer.
-
Copy the firmware file (FWDC141P.ELF) to your camera's SD memory card, then disconnect the camera from the computer.
-
Proceed with the installation of the firmware as outlined above.
I have read the above instructions.
